As many of you know, Russell Athletic officially closed their team uniform division this past year. For many of you coaches, this was a huge deal. Russell is one of those brands that has always been synonymous with words like value, quality and durability. Unfortunately, a lot of team dealers had stopped pushing the brand once the bigger guys like Nike, Adidas and Under Armour started getting so aggressive with their all school contracts. This along with Russell’s inability to solidify itself as a brand that millennials want caused the longstanding team favorite to close its uniform division.
Thankfully, Augusta Sportswear heard the frustration of dealers and coaches alike and decided to reach out to Russell. A few months later, Augusta announced that they would be the new exclusive manufacturer of team uniforms and other team-related items for Russell Athletic. Russell is back! This is a great win/win opportunity for both brands. Augusta will be adding a reputable, higher quality line of uniforms into their already great uniform lineup, and Russell gets to stay in the game. Coaches and team dealers are pumped as well. Both get another fantastic brand outside of the “big 3” that will be ready to service their needs with superior quality and competitive pricing.
